I’m about to give you some insider info…because I think it’s absolutely vital to running your gym. There are six key metrics we are focusing on for the Next Gen Academy this fall and leading into 2023. We want our members to absolutely kill it in their gyms and be incredibly profitable (while still maintaining fair pricing for their gym families) and earn the freedom from their gyms so they can spend more time with their own families doing non-cheer things they love (there must be something….)

One of these key metrics we’re focusing on in the Academy is the LEG – length of engagement – of the members in your gym. When you can calculate how long your gym members have been with you, you can do three things:

  1. You can use proven retention methods to increase the length of engagement of your members – meaning you can get them to be part of your program even longer.
  2. By getting them to be part of your program longer, you can GROW your gym. Getting 30 new kids every fall is amazing…unless you’re losing 31 of them. It’s hard to grow if your retention rate stinks.
  3. By also determining another key metric I’ll talk more about next week (the average revenue per member or ARM), you can learn the lifetime value of your members. This can help you make educated decisions on how much you want to spend on marketing certain programs.

For the past few months, we’ve been working alongside the top cheer industry software developers to establish systems for how to easily pull these metrics. In the next few months, our Academy clients will use their one-on-one coaching calls to begin filling out a big spreadsheet to document these metrics. Once documented, we’ll help our clients increase their metrics to build in more profit for themselves.

What does that mean?

It means they’ll be able to take consistent paychecks. Through the State of the Industry survey I hosted a few weeks ago, I learned that 71 percent of gym owners believe they should be making more money for the time and effort they’re putting into their gyms. Would you believe 100 percent of NG’s owners agree with them?

Just because you opened your gym to provide a better service for kids doesn’t mean you have to be a martyr for your cause. You can absolutely take home a paycheck for your own families for the work you’re putting in. Your community is grateful for your daily sacrifice for the youth in your city. No one expects you to live in your van in the gym parking lot to make that happen though. In fact, I’d bet they’d be shocked to hear how little you actually pay yourself.

So, if you know how to calculate your average client’s length of engagement, do that now. Start working to increase that, and if you need help reach out to book a call and see how NG can help you by clicking the link below!
